Greatness is result of good deeds, Greatness is power of accomplishments!
Awareness is power of knowledge; Awareness is power of the company of noblemen!
Awareness is outwardly symbol of THAT (God)!
Inwardly Awareness is physiological THAT!
Subtle-minded Awareness is soul-based THAT!
For this reason,
There is no essence in Debating; there is no essence in achieving Greatness!
Awareness of Linga (God) alone is of the essence! KapilaSiddaMallikarjuna!
In this Vachana, Sharana Siddarameswara comments on how certain aspects we place high importance to in our lives, come in the way of achieving true awareness i.e. self -awareness or realization of the God within. Most of us enjoy debates and arguments. We try to impress on others of our knowledge and acumen through debating. Indeed the knowledge acquired through reading, observation and through others helps us in being good debaters. Success in debating makes us start thinking that ‘we know it all’ and ‘we are superior to others’, essentially enhancing our ego. Winning in debates becomes habitual. This habit lets us concentrate more on winning debates and stops us from enhancing and sharpening our knowledge and awareness. Our knowledge thus stays superficial.
Along the same lines, greatness is achieved by good conduct and good deeds. Greatness could be due to the inherent good nature of the individuals or due to the untiring efforts of the individual. In general, everyone can achieve greatness through constant efforts, being in the company of noblemen and through the inherent interest in being a good citizen of the community. But, greatness does not imply awareness.
