What if one has Elephants, Horses and Wealth?
In this Vachana, Moligeya Marayya urges us to become aware of the impermanence of this material world. We spend all our lives earning a living and accumulating wealth. We collect horses, elephants, cars and all sorts of vehicles. We acquire multiple houses and count our blessings along with our money. We feel we are top of the world and continue to accumulate more and more. We may not even have time and patience to enjoy what we accumulate. Do we really need all this wealth? In fact, all we need is a handful of rice to eat, some milk from just one cow and only half of a cot to sleep. We can survive and live with this minimum. Yet we never think about it. We believe that the wealthier we are, the happier we will be. If that were the case, all the wealthy individuals must be happy individuals. That truly is not the case.
