Vachana 207: Ellaramte Nudidu – Speak like Everybody Else

ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಸಂಸಾರವ ಬಳಸುತಿಪ್ಪರೆಂದು

ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಕಾಣಬಹುದೆ, ನಿಜ ದೊರೆಕೊಂಡ ನಿರ್ಮಲಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ?

ಅವರ ಮನೋ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಳಗಿ ಬೆಳಗುವ

ಶಿವ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಬೀಜವು, ಹೊಳ್ಳಪ್ಪುದೆ?

ಉರಿಯದಿದ್ದಡೂ ಕಿಚ್ಚನೊರಲೆಕೊಂಬುದೆ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ?

avara manO madhyadalli (in the center of their mind) toLagu beLaguva (shining and illuminating)

shiva j~jaana bIjavau hoLLappude?(the knowledge of truth, is it hollow?)

uriyadiddaDU (even if not burning with fire)  kiccnoralekoMbude (can the cinder be eaten by worms) guhEshvaraa? (Guheshvara)

5.       VACHANA IN ENGLISH

They speak like everybody else, they live like everybody else.

Because their daily life is like everybody else’s,

can those who have seen the Truth, be treated like everybody else?

Is the knowledge of the Truth shining and illuminating

in the center of their mind, hollow?

Even if it is not burning, can the cinder be eaten by worms, Guhesvara?

6.       COMMENTARY

In this Vachana, Allama Prabhu describes the characteristics of the illuminated beings who have succeeded in obtaining the divine awareness. They speak like everybody else and live like everybody else. Their daily life is nothing different from everybody else’s. But, their inner nature is one of subtlety and equanimity. They cannot be treated like everyone else since they are not perturbed by the ups and downs of life. They are in this world, go through the normal activities of the world, but not affected by the world in any way. The knowledge and awareness of the divine is shining in them. It may not show up as burning fire externally, but it simply illuminates and shines within. No worm (meaning, no aspect of this world) will be able to quench this fire. These individuals, illuminated within by the divine awareness, are here, but not here.

Let us be the lotuses that grow in the water but not drenched in it!

ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ನುಡಿದು, ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ನಡೆದು

ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಸಂಸಾರವ ಬಳಸುತಿಪ್ಪರೆಂದು

ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಕಾಣಬಹುದೆ

ನಿಜ ದೊರೆಕೊಂಡ ನಿರ್ಮಲಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳ? (ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡ ನಿರ್ಮಲ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳನ್ನು)

ಅವರ ಮನೋ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಳಗಿ ಬೆಳಗುವ (ಅವರ ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಳೆದು ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುವ)

ಉರಿಯದಿದ್ದಡೂ ಕಿಚ್ಚನೊರಲೆಕೊಂಬುದೆ (ಕಿಚ್ಚಿಗೆ ಹುಳ ಹತ್ತುವುದೆ) ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರಾ?

ಶಿವ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದವರು  ನೋಡಲು ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆಯೇ ಕಂಡರೂ  ಸಂಸಾರದ ಸಣ್ಣ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಮುಳುಗಿಸಲಾರವು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಮಪ್ರಭುಗಳು.

ಶಿವ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪಡೆದವರು ತಾವು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತ ಬೇರೆ ಎಂದು ತೋರಗೊಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು  ಮೇಲೆ ನೋಡಲು ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆಯೆ ಬದುಕು ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಈ ಸಂಸಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲರಂತೆಯೆ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಎಲ್ಲವೂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ನಡತೆ  ಮೇಲು ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಇತರರಂತೆ ಕಂಡರೂ ಅದು ಅವರ ಒಳಗೆ ಇರುವ ಶಿವಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.

ಅವರ ಮನೋ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಶಿವಜ್ಞಾನ, ಅವರು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡ ಸತ್ಯದ ಬೆಳಕು ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದು ಟೊಳ್ಳಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನ . ಅದು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ನಾಶ ಹೊಂದುವಂತಹದಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಉರಿಯದಿದ್ದರೂ, ಉರಿಯಂತೆ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಕಾಣದಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿಚ್ಚಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದನ್ನು ಹುಳುಗಳು ತಿನ್ನಲಾರವು. ಅಂದರೆ ಬದುಕಿನ ಸಣ್ಣ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಯಾವತ್ತೂ ನುಂಗಲಾರವು ಎಂದರ್ಥ. ಅವರು ಸಂಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂಟಿಯೂ ಅಂಟದಂತೆ ಇರುತ್ತಾರೆ.
