Vachana 218: Dhareya Melulla Aruhiriyarellaru – The Intelligent People of the Earth

ಧರೆಯ ಮೇಲುಳ್ಳ ಅರುಹಿರಿಯಲ್ಲರೂ

ಮರುಳುಗೊಂಡೋಡಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ನೋಡಾ,

ಮಂಜಿನ ಮಡಕೆಯೊಳಗೆ ರಂಜನೆಯ ಭಂಡವ (ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು) ತುಂಬಿ

ಅಂಜದೆ ಪಾಕವ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಉಂಡು

ಭಂಡವ  ಮಾರುತಿರ್ಪರು ನೋಡಾ.

ಸಂಜೀವನಿಯ ಬೇರೆ ಕಾಣದೆ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾದರು

ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರನನರಿಯದ  ಭವ ಭಾರಕರೆಲ್ಲರು.

dhareya (the earth) mEluLLa (living on) aruhiriyarellarU(all the intelligent people)  maruLugoMDODaaDuttiddaare (are acting foolish)  nODaa (you see).

maMjina (fog) maDakeyoLage (in the pot of) raMjaneya (pleasure,happiness)  bhaMDava (thing, matter of) tuMbi (filled)

aMjade( not fearing) paakava  maaDikoMDu (cooking) uMDu (eating)

bhaMDava (material, matter) maarutirparu nODaa   (selling it you see),

saMjIvaniya  (life giving root) bEre kaaNade (not finding) maraNakkoLagaadaru (are succambed to death)

guhEshAVaranariyada (not realizing Guheshvara) bhava bhaarakarellaru (all the people who are carrying the burden of this world).

5.       VACHANA IN ENGLISH

All the intelligent people on the earth are acting fooloish, you see!

Having filled the pot of fog with the material of pleasure,

cooking and eating it without fear, and selling it, you see!

They are succumbed to death without finding the SaMjIvini (the life giving root),

the people carrying the burden of this world, having not realized Guhesvara!

6.       COMMENTARY

Allama Prabhu is commenting on the ways of the people in this world. Even the so called intelligent individuals are behaving in a foolsh manner. They are not using their intelligence towards achieving the permanent bliss. They are filling the pot made of fog with the material of the world. They are cooking it without the fear of this pot of fog melting away. They are not only immersed in this percieved pleasure and happiness, they are selling it to the fellow beings too.They have forgotten that the true happiness is the realization of Guhesvara, the divine, the Sanjivini (life giving root). Allama Prabhu wonders why all these intelligent individuals are so immersed in carrying the burden of this world, instead of moving towards realization of the Divine! The message of this Vachana then is that we have to realize that the pleasures of the world are temporary. The more we acquire the more we would like to have. This never ending quest of materialistic world has to stop. We need to use our intelligence in realizing this fact and move towards the true and permanent hapiness, the realization of the Self!

Let us perceive the impermanence of the materialistic world!

7.       KANNADA COMMENTARY

ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ರೀತಿಯನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಗೊಂಡ ಅಲ್ಲಮರ ಈ ಉದ್ಗಾರ ಈಗಲೂ ಅತ್ಯಂತ  ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತವಾಗಿದೆ  ಮತ್ತು  ಬಹಳ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿ ಮನಮುಟ್ಟುವಂತೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸಂಸಾರದ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಲುಕಿಕೊಂಡ ಜನರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಮರು - ಈ ಧರೆಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತ ಹಿರಿಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹುಚ್ಚರಂತೆ ಓಡಾಡುತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಅವರ ನಡತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಬಿಸಿಲಿಗೆ ಕರಗಿ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಂಜಿನ ಮಡಕೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಸುಖಕೊಡುವ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿದ್ದಾರೆ,  ಮಡಕೆ ಕರಗಿಹೋದರೆ ಸುಖ ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಯವಿಲ್ಲದೆ  ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅಟ್ಟು ಉಣ್ಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಆ ಮಂಜಿನ ಮಡಕೆ ಅದು ಯಾವ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಕರಗಿಹೋಗಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದರ ಅರಿವು ಅವರಿಗಿಲ್ಲ, ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ  ಧೈರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಇತರರಿಗೂ ಮಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಈ ಸಂಸಾರದ ಭಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತವರು ಇದರಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತರಾಗಲು ಸಂಜೀವನಿಯು ದೊರೆಯದೆ ಮರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ – ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಇದು ಇಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವುದರ ಪ್ರತ್ಯಕ್ಷ ನಿದರ್ಶನ. ಜನರು ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರಂತೆ ಕಂಡರೂ ಅವರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಮೂರ್ಖತೆಯ ಪರಮಾವಧಿ. ಮಂಜಿನ ಮಡಕೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಸುಖಕೊಡುವ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ತುಂಬಿ ಅಡುಗೆಮಾಡಿ ಉಣ್ಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅಂದರೆ ಅನೇಕ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡುತ್ತ, ತಮ್ಮ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ ,ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯಗಳಿಂದ  ಅವುಗಳ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತ  ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಮಂಜಿನ ಮಡಕೆ ಎಂಬುದೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿಲ್ಲ. ಮನರಂಜನೆಯೇ ಜೀವನದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ- ನಾನಾ ದೇಶದ ಅಡುಗೆ ಊಟಗಳು. ವೇಶ ಭೂಷೆಗಳು, ಅಂದ ಚಂದದ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳು, ಸೌಕರ್ಯದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು, ಬಗೆ ಬಗೆಯ ಮನೆಗಳು, ವಾಹನಗಳು, ಯಂತ್ರಗಳು,  ಕೊನೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಲೇ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ತವಕ, ನಂತರ ಹೊಸದನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವ ಹಂಬಲ, ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದು ಇವುಗಳ ಸುಖ ಅನುಭವಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿಯೆ ಜೀವನ ಕಳೆದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ.  ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೃಗಜಲದಂತೆ ಇರುವ  ಇದೇ ವಸ್ತುವನ್ನು ಇತರರಿಗೂ ಮಾರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಆದರೆ ಈ ಸುಖ, ತನ್ನ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ , ಜನರ ಮಾತು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಜಾಹಿರಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿದೆ. ಅದು ಯಾವಾಗ ಬೇಕಾದರೂ ಬದಲಾಗಬಹುದು ಎಂಬುದು ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

ಆಳವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಖವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದು ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದರಿಂದ ಪಾರಾಗಲು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಜೀವನಿಯು ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮುಳುಗಿ ಸಾವಿಗೀಡಾಗುತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂಸಾರದ ಭಾರವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತು ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಇವರು ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರನೆಂಬ ಸಂಜೀವನಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯದೆ  ಮರಣಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
